Ecuador gets the dominating victory over the host Qatar by 2-0 in the FIFA world cup 2022 opening game. This is the first time in FIFA world cup history that the host lost in their opening match.

The long wait of fans has ended and the FIFA world cup 2022 kicked off with Qatar vs Ecuador match in the Al Bayt Stadium which is 50 km from the capital Doha. The mega-opening ceremony happened before the game begins.

Indian fans were so much excited for the grandest tournament. Many Indian fans reached Al Bayt Stadium even while driving a car.

Qatar went with a 5-3-2 line-up in the first match and Ecuador played with a 4-4-2 strategy.

Ecuador skipper Enner Valencia scored a goal on a brilliant pass by Felix Torres inside 3 mins but after a VAR check, the goal was denied due to offside.

Qatar could not take advantage of this opportunity. Qatar's Goalkeeper Saad Al-Sheeb made a huge mistake and gave a penalty to Ecuador. Valencia makes no mistake and Ecuador gets a lead by 1-0 in the 16th minute.

Qatar got into a big problem after Enner Valencia scored again on the cross pass of Angelo Preciado in the 31st minute and increased the lead by 2-0 for Ecuador.

Valencia got injured and walked off in the 41st minute. Almoez Ali missed the huge opportunity to reduce the lead before the end of half-time. Ecuador retained their 2-goal lead until half-time.

Ecuador dominated the half-time with 54% of position and 229 passes. Qatar did not get the ball on target at half-time.

Enner Valencia came back on the field after half-time. Ecuador missed the chance of a goal in the 51st minute. They slowed their game in the 2nd half.

Many yellow cards were given in this match to both team players. 4 for Qatar and 2 for Ecuador. Qatar played well in the 2nd half instead of the first one. They tried to score a goal but could not hit the net.

Muntari did an absolutely brilliant try to open the goal account of Qatar in the 84th minute. Ecuador played defensively in the end and secured the victory by 2-0.

Qatar made a record of losing in the first match by the host nation. This is the first time football fans witnessed the host's loss.

All credit should give to Ecuador's brilliant play because they counter-attacked since the start of the match and when the game was going towards the end then played defensively.

Now Qatar has not an easy way in this world cup because they will face Netherlands and Senegal in the next 2 matches.

Ecuador should advance from the group stage according to their performance in this match. I think they have to beat either Netherlands or Senegal to secure their round of 16 spot.
