Where will be FIFA World Cup take place in 2022?

FIFA World Cup 2022 will be at Qatar

The 20th of November 2022 is the scheduled start date for the FIFA World Cup 2022. To begin the competition, host nation Qatar will square off against Ecuador.

The young French team, coached by Didier Deschamps, won the championship in the big event's previous iteration. However, this time, Brazil, Argentina, and England are thought to be the favorites.

The FIFA World Cup 2022 will be held in Qatar the process began in the year 2010. The Gulf nation had to defeat four other countries to win the right. Australia, South Korea, Japan, and the United States were among the nations.

Stadiums

Such a tournament required an exhilarating infrastructure to host. The nation's government worked on the issue and built several stadiums that will serve as the locations for the matches.

Eight separate stadiums will host a total of 65 matches. The Al Bayt Stadium, which has a seating capacity of 60,000, will host the first game. Except for three knockout stage games, five group stage matches will be played here.

Both group stage and knockout matches will be played at different stadiums like Al Janoub Stadium, Ahmad Bin Ali Stadium, Khalifa International Stadium, Education City Stadium, Stadium 974, and Al Thumama Stadium.

The final of the famous event will be held at Lusail Stadium in addition to the other games, as it has the most seating available (five group stage games and one Round of 16, Quarter-final, and Semi-final each). The stadium can facilitate 80,000 people.

Tent hotel system

The tent hotel system that was implemented to welcome the visiting foreign fans is the most amazing element of the World Cup in Qatar, not the stadiums alone.

Additionally, the tents in the desert will resemble Bedouin tents. Notably, the aforementioned stadium in Al Khor, Al Bayt Stadium, was also influenced by the same design.

Tickets sold

The most recent ticket sale took place from 5 July to 16 August and allowed fans to purchase tickets on a first-come, first-served basis. There were 520,532 tickets sold in all.

The group stage matches between Cameroon vs Brazil, Brazil vs Serbia, Portugal vs Uruguay, Costa Rica vs Germany, and Australia vs Denmark received the most tickets allotted.

Most tickets were purchased by fans in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United States, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, England, Argentina, Brazil, Wales, and Australia, who also led the way in the digital queues.

History of football in Qatar

Qatar is not a huge football power, but it is not a new name either. The activity was first popularised in the nation in the late 1940s. The Doha Stadium, which opened its doors in 1962, was the first stadium ever built.

It was the only grass football field in Qatar at the start of the 1970s. Pele, who was then playing for Santos, displayed his brilliance in front of the stadium in February 1973.

The FIFA U-20 World Cup (Australia) finalist in 1981 was Qatar. Their skill in the contest was evidence of victory over sports heavyweights Brazil and England. As well as hosting the AFC Asian Cup, Qatar has participated in the Olympics also.

Qatar will host a FIFA event once again after this one. The country was the U-20 world cup host country back in 1995. A 2006 Asian Games victory for the national team.

Their most significant achievement to date came after they defeated the top Asian nation Japan by a score of 3-1 in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup, which was their most recent success.
